Relax Folks

We are still in marital bliss! Just poking fun at each other for funny things that have happened lately.

Your Welcome

Next time, I'll let your slow butt cut up all the vegetables. That way, we can eat three hours later when it's time to go to bed! Oh, and I love you too.

Thanks Hun...

This is what happens when your ever-so-helpful husband cuts veggies for a salad. In case you are wondering, the sticker does not contribute as far as flavor is concerned. Love you baby!

Weekend Update: Party Party Party

Jay and I are recovering from a weekend full of parties. We started the weekend off right with a good workout on Saturday morning. I hurt my quads pretty bad last Wednesday attempting to do some sprints, so have been easing back into my workouts. I think it's going to be a few more weeks until I'm 100%, but at least I am now walking normal. Just no running for me for a while.

When we returned from our workout, we found out that Kiera and Joe were hosting Tara and Jeff at their house for a photo party so decided to head over and check it out. It is great that our friends are becoming friends too!

There were three families there with little ones and everyone took turns taking pictures. It was a bit chaotic trying to get a good shot of all three babies. From left to right are Alistair, Kate, and Tristan. Besides the "grabbing" and "hitting", they got along very nicely.
How many adults does it take to get a good baby picture?!!
Next, we headed over to a party with a bunch of Jay's work friends. It was such a nice day to be out by the pool! I didn't get many pictures except for the one below on the right of Alistair trying to be like his daddy. The one on the left is from a party at the same house last summer. Hmmm...I think he fits better than I do :)
The third and final party was for our friends Cindy and Mark who are moving to Tennessee. This is our second going away party for friends moving to TN in the past year. Rachel and Foye were the first ones to leave and "stole" Cindy and Mark after a recent visit.  They will certainly be missed but I know they will have such a great time back East!
After party #3, we headed back to party #2 and lets just say that it went downhill from there. The upside of a hungover husband is as follows:
In & Out Burger - Perfect Hangover Remedy

Sunday afternoon we picked up our weekly watermelon. Every weekend throughout the summer, we get a watermelon from this family-run farm stand near our house. It gets sweeter and more satisfying each week as we continue to dive into the triple digits.

We are super excited to have friends from our old flight school in town this coming weekend for some old-fashioned fun. Just 4 more days to go before we start the party all over again. Phew - I'm exhausted just thinking about it!

The Couple that Works Out Together...

...gets buff together! Well, so far at least. Plus you get "cool" blisters like this (under my middle & ring finger):
and you get to drink yummy protein shakes like this one (Cinnamon Bun flavor - sooo good):

Weekend Update: Easter

Friday night our friend Shane, Jay and I hit Ranch Market after I got out of work. We had a delicious early dinner and did some quick Easter grocery shopping. For those of you who haven't been before, Ranch Market is basically a big grocery store that is targeted to the Hispanic population here in Phoenix. There is a huge restaurant inside, a bakery, a gigantic meat/seafood department, and more. The food was delicious, and the tour around the meat department was definitely an eye-opener! I couldn't resist taking a picture of this (which, by the way is yours for only $39.99!).
Saturday we had a double-lesson with our dance instructor before heading to Erika's 30th birthday party. Let's just say that you would never guess she's THAT old! :) It was a great time and nice to catch up with some friends we hadn't seen for a while.

We got home just in time for me to do this:
Sunday morning we got up early & headed to 8:30 mass. Admittedly, we haven't been in several weeks, so it felt really nice to get back there. It was nice going to the earlier one too as we had lots of time to clean the house and get dinner ready. Jay and I each seasoned a chicken (guess who's who's in the below picture). We also made rolls and Brussels Sprout Hash for sides. (Quick sidenote on the hash: May made this last time we went to Kansas City and Jay and I both really enjoyed it. We've made it twice since then and I can't help but share the recipe with everyone! Jeff and Tara don't like Brussels Sprouts but they even went for seconds!)
We even used my chicken to decant the wine! There is a restaurant in Burlington that serves wine this way and I just had to have my own. Here is how the tradition started, "The origin of the chicken pitcher dates back to the Renaissance period in the Republic of Florence. A Nobleman was saved from assassination from the sudden chattering of chickens in the courtyard. It is now Italian tradition to give a new chicken pitcher to a friend to protect them from danger."
We were so happy to have Jeff and Tara over to celebrate Easter. They brought absolutely delicious scalloped potatoes and a homemade cheesecake that were just incredible. I honestly could live off just those two dishes alone. My most favorite item they brought with them was this little munchkin:
Alistair was all dressed up and looking pretty handsome so we did a little photo shoot outside. Here is an action shot of the scenario. It's not easy to photograph a 5 month old but we got some really cute shots!
We had such a great time and are so happy to have such great friends to share these special times with.
We hope everyone had a very special Easter as well. It's times like these that we all are reminded that it's not about the things you have in life, it's about who you share them with.

You Know You're Married/Boring/Easily Excited When...

...things like this make you smile like it was your birthday.
I wish I was joking, but I'm completely serious. This beautiful piece of laundry-drying brilliance replaced the following POS that I was happy to leave for Mr. Garbage Man last week. Happy enough to take a picture.
I won't go into all of the scary details as to how the above piece of fire wood ended up on my bad side (believe me, Jay was right there with me on this), but I will tell you where I got my new one that I just L-O-V-E. Ikea. Of course. Here is a link in case you want one too. It may not make you as happy as it made me, but it sure will get your laundry dry!
